New Jersey SEEDS

Founded in 1992, New Jersey SEEDS is a privately funded, statewide, nonprofit organization. We change the lives of motivated, high-achieving students from low-income families by transforming their educational opportunities. We ensure that our students have the knowledge, skills, access, and support to thrive at the nation’s finest schools and colleges.

SEEDS identifies and selects scholars at three different points along their educational trajectory and has developed three distinct academic programs to meet their needs. Each program is designed to rapidly build the critical thinking skills and knowledge base that will allow students to thrive in far more challenging school environments than those from which they come.

Young Scholars Program
The Young Scholars Program is a 14-month academic program that prepares 5th and 6th grade students for placement in selective middle schools with substantial financial aid. The program is designed to rapidly build the critical thinking skills, knowledge base, emotional intelligence, and cultural understanding that will allow students to thrive in far more challenging school environments than those from which they come.

Scholars Program
The SEEDS Scholars Program is a tuition-free program designed to prepare 8th-grade students for 9th-grade placement at an academically rigorous, private day or boarding high school. Over a 14-month period, students take classes on Saturdays and participate in two summer residential programs. The Scholars Program nurtures a student’s critical thinking skills, love of learning, and self-confidence. In addition, the Scholars Program seeks to ensure that each child is admitted to a selective school.

College Scholars Program
The College Scholars Program is a 17-month education experience designed to prepare and place top-performing, low-income students from eligible public high schools in highly competitive colleges with excellent preparation and sufficient financial aid.
