Millhill Child and Family Development Corporation enrich the well being of vulnerable children from infancy to adolescence through educational, social, behavioral health, and medical programs that work within the context of the family and community
Behavioral Health Services
Millhill’s Behavioral Health Services (BHS) are comprehensive, community-based programs focused on strength-based service delivery. We provide:
- Counseling services (remote and in person) to adults and youth with Medicaid Insurance between the ages of 4-65.
- Psychiatric services/medication monitoring services
- Case Management services for all clients (providing resources, additional supports, collaborating with outside providers)
Our programs offer an array of services designed to wrap around the client and work with the family as a unique entity.
Family Support Services
Our Family Support Services Department provides case management and therapeutic support to families referred to Milhill through the Mercer County DCPP (Division of Child Protection & Permanency) and other agencies which serve children who are at risk. The Family Court system frequently mandates that parents come to us because of the quality of specialized child care and family services we provide.
Each professional staff member works closely with the Mercer County DCPP district office to ensure continuity of care, and develops strong, trust-based relationships with families, enabling them to set and achieve personalized goals.
Parents receive comprehensive therapeutic support as they learn to develop a safe and nurturing family environment for themselves and their children.
Early Care and Education
Millhill was one of the first and remains one of the few child development centers in the Trenton area to have achieved accreditation by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC.) This accreditation confirms that the Center has undergone a voluntarily comprehensive self-study and invited an external professional to verify Millhill’s compliance with the Criteria for High-Quality Early Childhood Programs.
Children from low-income families are more likely to start school with limited language skills, health problems, and social and emotional problems that interfere with learning. The larger the gap at school entry, the harder it is to close. Research shows that early interventions can help reverse the negative effects of poverty.
We offer comprehensive early care and education for over 120 children ages 2 years to 6 years old. The program is based on developmentally appropriate practices which create an effective learning environment for each individual child. For planning, our teaching staff uses Creative Curriculum.
