Artworks, Trenton’s downtown visual arts center, promotes artistic diversity by fostering creativity, learning, and appreciation of the arts. Our exhibitions, workshops, and events make art an accessible experience for all, building community among and between art students of all ages, professional and amateur artists, inner city and suburban residents, die-hard art fans and first time art appreciators.
Youth Art League
Ages 6-15, Select Saturdays 12-2pm/3-5pm
Artworks Trenton is happy to announce that the Youth Art League will be expanding to two hours in 2018! This free programming, designed to inspire the youth of our communities, will now be offered all throughout the year with a variety of classes introducing new and exciting techniques in storytelling, drawing, collage, and so much more. These classes will be held in Artworks’ 40-foot-high sky lit classrooms March through December and are scheduled on select Saturdays, 12pm-2pm for youth ages 6-15. When registering for classes, please register under the youth's name. If your child is unable to attend all of the classes in each section, please notify the Education Coordinator at [email protected].
"Imagine This! The Art of Storytelling"
Have you always had a story inside that you knew would make a great book? Can you make up a grand tale right on the spot and have everyone in tears from laughter or hanging on to the edge of their seats? If so, this is the workshop for you! In "Imagine This! The Art of Storytelling" students will learn how to take their story idea and develop it into their very own illustrated and written picture book! Students will learn how to use: creative writing, character design, and fundamental drawing skills to craft a world of their very own for a softcover picture book to have for years to come.
"Drawing 101"
This workshop is cultivated to inspire young artist with the help of their senses. We will go
through an art adventure with sound, sight, touch and smell. With the creative freedom to be
able to push boundaries. We will be inspire the youth to draw and to encourage them to pursue
their love of art.
