Mercer County Family Support Organization (FSO)

Mercer County Family Support Organization (MCFSO) is a peer-support organization whose mission is to support, educate and advocate for caregivers of children with behavioral, developmental, or substance abuse challenges. MCFSO is part of New Jersey's Children's System of Care and provides four programs to accomplish our mission.

A Warmline is available during business hours (Monday-Friday 9 AM-5 PM) to provide information, resources, and support to families. Call 609-586-1200 to talk confidentially to someone.

Support groups and workshops are available to help educate families regarding issues they face with their challenged children as well as to support them as they learn the skills they need for their specific child. Child supervision is free and available for these groups but must be arranged ahead of time.

Youth Partnership meets Monday evenings from 6:00-8:00 pm. This group is made up of young people 13-21 years of age who want their voices to be heard as they reduce stigma in the community, support each other, learn skills and face challenges. Please call Eileen Jensen for more information on Youth Partnership at 609-586-1200, ext. 223.

Family Support Program is available for families enrolled with the Care Management Organization. Here in Mercer County that organization is Capitol County Children's Collaborative. Families requesting a Family Support Partner will meet regularly with another caregiver who has already raised a child with challenges and understands this journey. The Family Support Partner can accompany a parent/caregiver to school meetings, treatment team meetings, Child Family Team meetings as well as home visits. The Family Support Partner will help the caregiver develop a plan through the use of a Family Assessment of Needs and Strengths. While the average length of stay varies, the support groups and workshops prepare families for the time when they transition from MCFSO.

All programs are provided at no cost to families. All information is confidential. For more information about Mercer County Family Support Organization and the Children's System of Care, please call the Warmline at 609-586-1200.
